Winner! And Saturday Ramblings

Good afternoon everyone! I am having a lazy Saturday, playing on the computer. My mind is whirling trying to think of things I'll need for the first few weeks of school. To be honest, trying to think back to last August is hard! Part of me wants to play ostrich and not even think about school until at least August, but I am trying to ignore that part.

But, onto something more pleasant:

Lisa from Learning is Something to Treasure won my Texas Giveaway! I will be mailing her the Cowgirl Clipboard and Texas goodies :) Speaking of clipboards... I've been on a roll with them! Check out some of the ones I finished this week:

 Aren't the sock monkeys sweet?
This one has lots of words of affirmation that make me smile!
This one is a mini clipboard, the picture is a bit washed out, the paper is much more green.

I love making them and have several more in the works - I do them in stages - I cover them all one night, then the next I do the trimming, the next I put the ribbons on etc. Since I've become addicted to The Mentalist lately and they keep showing marathons I've got a bunch of episodes dvr'd. So whenever I sit down to watch I grab a clipboard to work on. Tonight I'm putting the ribbons on a farm one, a mini pink board, and an ocean waves board. My only problem is that I now have way more clipboards than I could ever use! I'm going to make a set for my kinders to use for Write the Room, but those will all be foresty to match my "Where the Wild Things Are" theme. I also give these as gifts to my coworkers to match their classroom themes, but even still, since I have a stack of clipboards in the closet I'm going to be wading in fancy boards pretty soon! You'll probably see them for giveaway pretty regularly lol!

I am thrilled to announce that I will be guest blogging over at Castles and Crayons next Thursday! Kelli is having a whole week of guest bloggers and she's also giving away 28 prizes! Head over to her blog to leave a comment before the 4th to enter!

Alright, I am off to work on some center signs and some sort of freebie for when I guest blog for Kelli - if you have any ideas for me let me know! And, if you feel like giving me some virtual love, please Rustle up a Response below and let me know what you're up to this Saturday!

It is 105 degrees here today so I've been organizing my teaching stuff and working on a new product. I also worked on decorating 2 clipboards as well (I used scrapbook paper for the others that I've done, with the ones that I'm currently working on I'm painting them).

I love the clipboards. I need to find some cheap ones so I can make some too! Last time I was at Dollar Tree they didn't have a single one.

Today I went and picked up one of those tollboxes from Lowes to decorate. I've also been trying to get everything back in order now that the painting is finished.

I REALLY love thee clipboards and am going to try to make some next week. Just a few questions: do you use any type of silver spray paint (or metallic) and what width ribbon do you get (and how much)? Can't wait to get these going and see what I can create. THANKS!!!

Hi Suzanne! I use metallic silver spray paint - sometimes I do gold or bronze too, as long as it's the shiny metallic kind - I just look at the lid :) I usually use about 1/2 a roll of each color ribbon for one clipboard and it's 3/8" usually. Hope that helps and thanks for visiting my blog!

Hi Jennifer,
I love those clipboards, so creative...much better than the boring ones I have. You have inspired me to rectify that.
BTW I have awarded you the One Lovely Blog award

Thanks so much for the info and quick reply. I have one more question as I went to buy the supplies today. Do you recommend the shiny or matte mod podge? I have done some crafting but never used this. I am REALLY excited to start and plan to create a wedding clipboard first for my daughter. Again, thanks so much!!!

Hi Suzanne! I've actually used both and they work equally well for this project, it just depends on whether you want the finished product to be shiny or not. Currently I'm using the matte just because that's what they had on hand last time I was at the store, you can tell in the pictures that it doesn't reflect the light as much. Also, when you put the paper on the board it may look like it's bubbling a bit - smooth it as much as you can and then let it dry. Most of the bubbles will disappear once it dries - took me ages to learn this and several times I would rip the paper off and restart not realizing that if I just waited the problem would resolve itself! Good luck, I'd love to see a picture when you're done!
