Drowning in Organization (Freebie!)

I'm revisiting this post to link it up over at TBA! This is one of my favorite freebies, simply because I love "I have..Who has..?" games and this one is perfect for Back to School! The freebies at the end of the post, so feel free to skip to the bottom!

I am literally knee deep in organizing, friends. (I almost skipped that comma but that would make it seem like I'm organizing my friends and trust me, I'm not letting anyone I know see this mess!) I totally broke the 15 minute rule, and I'm pulling a "Unpack every single box at once, making random piles that will hopefully resolve themselves into some type of organization" type of day.

Husband is sleeping after 24 hour duty, the 2 oldest are out at the park with their friends and the two youngest are playing Xbox. I know...I know...I really try not to let them have a lot of video game time, but I figure this will keep them occupied the longest which means they won't be in here pestering me digging through stuff  filchng stickers helping me.

I wish I could post a great organizational tip, but all I got is "Don't ever procrastinate with organization like I did because then it is hell on earth trying to put it in some kind of order." I think this is about 2 years worth of stuff at this point.

Some of it is because after the fire at our house, we had vandals break in and tear apart my techer closet which was pretty much the only thing unscathed by the fire. They opened all of my carefully organized containers and dumped them all over the sooty floor, rifled through them and actually stole quite a bit. Go figure,  vandals who want Gingerbread Man units! When I found this mess I did my best to shove it all back in boxes and brought it to our rental home, where it sat while I had to go through everything else that we actually needed on a day to day basis.

When we moved form the rental house to our new home on base we pretty much took all of my teaching stuff, threw it into crates/boxes and stuffed it in the garage, along with the stuff the vandals didn't take/break.

So today I am going through all of that stuff, finding a lot of still smoky smelling papers - things I should have probably thrown away at the time but couldn't bear to. The fire was one thing, to have vandals come and graffiti our house and destroy everything the fire hadn't touched was really the straw that broke the camel's back. I think I cried more over that than I did losing everything in the fire.

Anyways, I have to leave you with something positive, right? Something that has nada to do with organization because as I sit here, surrounded by chaos, I am going to do my best to ignore it for 15 minutes and take a blog stalking break.

By the way, a couple of great giveaways going on, head on over to SOS Supply for a cute giveaway of a lot of cute items including a super cute Gruffalo pack! By the way, be sure to stop by on Monday for my Blogaversary Giveaway! I have a couple of friends lined up to help me out with it, but if you'd like to join me in celebrating I'd love to have some more participants, just drop me a line at ingen77@yahoo.com so we can make this a huge giveaway!

Alright, about time to get back to work, I'll leave you with this fun freebie. I loooove "I have...Who has..?" games! I just made a bunch of "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Pete the Cat" ones for my TPT store. But, it occurred to me that some people might not be familiar with the game, plus it would be easier to teach the game to my new kinders if I do a simple picture one. Some of my kiddos come to me not knowing any letters or numbers, so I want to start off with something super simple. I am offering it free so that you can teach your kiddos how to play the game at the beginning of the year with ease! I literally use a version of this game every day - it is so fun and a great way to review concepts. My students always love it so much they ask to play it multiple times a day!

Grab it here for free! Enjoy your Saturday and if you don't hear from me for a few days send in the National Guard because I probably got buried alive in this mess!

Good luck with all of your organizing! Cannot believe someone would steal your teacher materials. And after a fire. :(

Hope all the organizing goes well. I'm actually supposed to be doing that today as well. After taking a picture of my shoes, for the Ruby red TBA post, I realized how neglected my closet is. so you are my last blog hop, before I start in on the dungeon as my husband calls it. BTW so sorry to hear about your home. Hopefully karma will get the vandals.
