I'm back! (St. Patty's Day Freebie!)

I feel like a wrung out rag, all wobbly kneed and woozy, but at least I'm sitting upright which is something I haven't been able to do for three days! I woke up Wednesday feeling just as healthy as ever, but right after lunch I started getting chills and knew I had a fever. I assumed it was just a ramped up cold - lots of my kiddos have been coming down with them and the coughing in my class has been raucous. I made it through the rest of the day and prepared for a substitute, figuring I'd spend Thursday sipping hot tea, wrapped in a blanket and resting while catching up on all of my favorite blogs. Low and behold by 7pm that night I was laid flat out in bed, alternating between piling on more blankets and kicking them off. Every bone in my body ached and it was a chore to even turn over! I spent all of Thursday and Friday like that - sipping water in between doses of Dayquil and Nyquil probably taken at way too close intervals.

Thankfully I have a great team and one shaky text to a coworker on Thursday night when I realized there was no way I could go into work when I could barely manage to hold a water bottle without spilling, ensured that she would make some copies and ensure my sub on Friday was prepared since I had only counted on being gone 1 day. This morning I woke up and realized that I felt 10 times better which was such a relief. I even got  to wash my hair which was nice since my husband commented that I looked like Chewbacca after he stuck his finger in a light socket. I lost 4 lbs over the 3 days and still feel weak, but I know I'm over the worst of it! The rest of my family is a little bit sniffly and congested but nothing like what I had for which I'm thankful!

I have a few posts to catch up on and messages to return, so if you haven't heard a reply from me you know why I'm behind! I am also sharing my: How to Plan a Leprechaun Visit packet which I had hoped to have up on Wednesday, but might still be of use to those of you who haven't finalized your plans for next week. I always make a big deal out of St. Patrick's Day and my students love it - the detail with which they can recount the events of our Leprechaun visit is astounding. Here's the packet, which gives you some rhymes for a school-wide scavenger hunt as well as a poem, writing prompt paper and some ideas for creating the "magic" of the leprechauns! I hope you can manage to squeeze it into your plans - your students will surely enjoy it! Just click on the picture to download it for free in my TPT store!

Oh, and if you haven't checked it out yet, please stop by and give my St. Patrick's Day Lucky Leprechaun Math Unit a peek - I've got 8 math center/small group activities as well as journal prompts and a color by sum sheet! It's on sale until Monday with all of my other St. Patrick's Day goodies!

By the way, head over to A Cupcake for the Teacher to check out Teri's St. Patrick's Day linky and giveaway!
