Snowman Deals!

I was having one of those days today - you know, those days when you wonder why on earth you decided to get married and have kids and surely it'd be less stressful/noisy/exasperating/ to just be single again! Please tell me I'm not alone in having those kinds of days? And, the horrible thing is, that no one actually did anything to make me think that! No fights with hubby, children all behaving, house relatively clean - what the heck am I complaining about, right? I don't want to sound like a whiner, but man I was aching to have some alone time! So, I went shopping. A trip to Walmart is usually a good cover - my husband hates it with a passion so I can  leave him behind without a fuss. Convincing the children that they really don't want to come with me is more difficult but luckily they are all still so enraptured by Christmas gifts that I was able to leave the house without anyone clamoring to come with me!

What does all of that have to do with this blog?! Since I didn't have anyone fussing over how much time I spent in each aisle,  I got to peruse all the clearance items at my leisure. And guess what I found??
Snowman ornament kits - pack of 4 for $1.25 - perfect for my snowman unit coming up in January, along with foam stickers that are penguins and snowmen - no Christmas images at all - for $1.25 for the big pack and 60 cents each for the smaller packs! Plus, a dry-erase, removable snowman cling set for $4.50 that comes with many different facial features and hats - I plan on making him the center of our writing for a week - giving him different looks every day and having the children write stories about each snow-person!
I also found this pack of 35 foam snowflakes for $1.25 which will be great for decorating my bulletin boards this month, plus a bigger foam snowman that will decorate my door!

I also hit Staples for their sale - $3 for a set of 10 Sharpies and $1 for a set of 5 dry-erase markers as well as 5 cent folders! I picked up some cute new pencils for my students too, to go along with the super sweet New Year flags from Denise over at Sunny Days in Second Grade.

I go back to school on Tuesday so tonight and tomorrow I will be cutting and laminating my little heart out to make sure I have everything ready to go for Tuesday morning - I'm going to try to stay more organized this year! I have been trying to think of my One Little Word - Farley over at Oh Boy 4th Grade first introduced me to the concept and since then Holly from CrissCross Applesauce in First Grade has been keeping it at the forefront of my thoughts. I love the idea but I haven't found a word that speaks to me yet. Is it normal for this to take so long?!

I finally got my Penguin Math Unit posted over at TPT now too. Now that I have a few things in my store I feel better about participating in the Ring of Bloggy giveaways! There's still time to enter for a chance to win, just click here!

I'm going to close this out with a collage of my kids enjoying our New Years celebration - as much as I had to get away from them today I really do love them to pieces!
